Pet loss is never easy. There are things that you can do to help get through the grieving process...
Saying Goodbye When Losing A Pet
Pet loss is always a difficult situation that no one wants to have to go through. A very nice way to pay tribute to the memory of your pet would be to donate to an animal organization in his/her name.
There are many ways to give to the shelters and animal groups. All state and national veterinary organizations accept donations in memory of your deceased pet and that money is used to help veterinary science and research.
When you experience a pet death, it is important to take the time to grieve just as you would for any member of your family. There are many ways to mourn and every person mourns the death of pet in their own way.
If you feel the need to talk about it, there are many ways to you can get emotional support; there are groups specifically geared to help you through the emotional roller-coaster of pet loss, friends are usually good listeners, as are other people who have experience with death of a pet, and pet loss support lines.
You could try writing about your pet. Creating a journal that includes stories about the things your pet did will help you focus on the good times you spent together.
Another option is to keep memorials of your pet for you to look at and think about all the good times you’ve had with him/her.
The death of a pet is never easy. You must remember that you need to take the time to grieve. Let your emotions out, cry, scream, yell…whatever you need to do. It is healthy to let it all out. Eventually, the pain subsides to a manageable level and you’ll be free to remember…
